We're going to show our little ones a thing or two about water density by mixing colored water and oil in a small bottle. They'll love seeing the odd shapes and shaking things up.
This science project is great for children of all ages. Hecks, grownups will have fun, too.
Bring with you: - A 20 oz. or less water or soda bottle (older kids who can maneuver a 2-liter bottle can bring that if desired) filled 2/3 of the way up with water. Remove the label from the bottle.
I will bring some food coloring and cooking oil to finish off the project. Parents are expected to participate and manage messes. We must respect the library space we plan to use, and so parents should help younger children to avoid damaging library property.
We'll also have quick discussion about water density and I'll have some hand-outs to help parents continue the conversation at home.
